Medicare EMS Announce Green Plan to Achieve Net Zero

Medicare EMS
Medicare EMS is proud to announce the launch of its comprehensive Green Plan, a key initiative in our commitment to achieving a Net Zero Health Service. This strategic effort underscores our dedication to sustainability and our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact.

As part of this plan, Medicare EMS has set an ambitious target to reduce our directly controlled carbon emissions by 5% annually, aiming for a significant 80% reduction between 2028 and 2032. Our ultimate goal is to reach net zero emissions by 2040, ensuring that we contribute to a healthier environment for future generations.

“We recognise the critical role that healthcare providers play in addressing climate change, and we are determined to lead by example,” said Steve Colmer, Operations Director at Medicare EMS. “Our Green Plan is not just about reducing emissions; it’s about rethinking how we operate, innovating for sustainability, and ensuring that our services support the health of both our patients and the planet.”

Medicare EMS’s Green Plan will involve a range of initiatives, including energy-efficient infrastructure, sustainable procurement practices, and partnerships with eco-friendly suppliers. We are also committed to engaging with our staff, patients, and the broader community to raise awareness and foster a culture of sustainability.

By taking these steps, Medicare EMS aims to be at the forefront of the healthcare sector’s response to the climate crisis, contributing to a greener, healthier world.
